Anthony Peska

Attorney in the law firm of Mahoney & Mahoney, LLC, Anthony has lived in Stephenson County his entire life. He has deep family roots in both Stephenson and Jo Daviess County. Anthony is a 2001 graduate of Freeport High School, after which he attended Loras College. He graduated from Loras College in 2005, majoring in criminal justice and minoring in both business and sociology. While at Loras, he participated in a nationally-ranked mock trial team and varsity football.

In 2008, he graduated with distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law at Grand Forks, North Dakota, where he served on the Diversity and Anti-Racism Committee and the Native American Law Student Association.

Anthony has considerable litigation experience, having brought dozens of jury trials to successful completion for his clients and negotiated countless successful settlements. He has handled matters ranging from first-degree murder to routine traffic citations, as well as juvenile delinquency cases. He has represented parents in numerous juvenile abuse and neglect cases and has also served as guardian ad litem representing the best interests of children. Anthony assists appellate counsel with preparation of appeals, and he represents clients on post-conviction petitions. His practice continues to grow to meet his clients’ needs.

Anthony is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, and locally, he is a member and has been the secretary of the Stephenson County Bar Association. Additionally, he is a member of the Jo Daviess County Bar Association. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Family YMCA of Northwest Illinois. He has also been a tutor for the Highland Community College adult literacy program and been a mentor to at-risk children and a guest speaker for local schools.
